Each year, Camp:Create desires to partner with the art community through local studios in an effort to bring quality art education to the campers. Last year, we were fortunate to partner with Goggleworks based in Reading, PA. This year we are partnering with ArtFusion from Pottstown, PA.

By partnering with multi-disciplinary art studios we are able to connect with well-established educators with a diverse art background, while supporting local artists and businesses.

Camp:Create is not a week of crafts, but an immersive experience for kids to engage with the Gospel through hands-on artist workshops, art history, and a gallery exhibition.

OUR EDUCATORS

  • ALEXIS WARD

Alexis Ward is a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA, where she studied Textile Design and received her BFA in Fiber Arts. After college, she spent several years designing carpets for the hospitality industry. Her art specializes in tactile sculpture and installations, which combines her passion for painting and the 3-dimensional. She enjoys leading people of all ages through their discovery of creativity within themselves and helping them apply it to their areas of interest in life and work. She will be leading the daily large sessions (opening and closing), teaching about each artist and their place in the history of art, the weeklong art installation workshop, and overseeing the gallery opening. Alexis Ward is employed by Verge Church.

  • KAYLA ACKELSON

Kayla Ackelson is an art educator with ArtFusion. She is a graduate of Millersville University of Pennsylvania where she earned a BFA in Photography. She enjoys working with different art mediums, exploring possibilities, and see what new combinations she can come up with. She is passionate about making quality art and design accessible to everyone. Kayla will be facilitating the daily art workshops where she will introduce an art technique, the application and prompt, and provide instructional support to the campers as it relates to the art technique. Kayla is employed by ArtFusion and is not affiliated with Verge Church.
